The Michaels Brand of canvas, which in the past I have recommended, has changed. Although the brown label is the same the canvas does not seem to be.
Already students are complaining about the canvas soaking up the medium. Not good.
You'll be able to tell the difference in the old and the new. The old canvas has the staples on the side while the new canvas has staples on the back.
To prep a questionable canvas apply 1-2 thin coats of a white gesso with a gesso brush. Do not use your oil brushes to apply gesso.
If you are using a canvas that is working for you please let us know. Thanks.
